 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs tasks such as laser, plasma or waterjet operation and assisting other employees as assigned
  • Periodically reviews their work with the Lead Man or Shop Supervisor to ensure that they are performing the job correctly and that quality requirements are maintained 
  • Seeks to understand correct setup and operation of all machinery to which they are assigned 
  • Maintains clean and safe working areas (This applies not just to the laborer's primary area, but to any other area in which they may be working)
  • Follows all safety rules. Positively encourages others to follow correct procedures and to maintain a safe working environment
  • May go to the tool room attendant to obtain the correct consumables and tools if assigned by the lead man. Maintains all tools and consumables to extend their working life
  • Gives job lead feedback as to conditions or issues that will have an impact on the job
  • Seeks to be as knowledgeable as possible of all shop machinery and tools 
  • Seeks to be as knowledgeable as possible with fabrication processes, metal alloys and properties and relates that knowledge to assigned jobs
  • Seeks to understand blueprints and part layouts ("stretch-outs"), but always works with the project lead to ensure accuracy of part dimensions and requirements
  • Looks for ways to increase efficiency and quality in their work while following correct procedures as required
  • May be required to perform field work as necessary
  • Maintains the confidentiality of customer and Samuel’s proprietary information.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Previous CNC operation 2 to 3 years’ machine operation preferred but not necessary
  • Strong familiarity with laser, plasma or waterjet equipment and techniques

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting to 50lbs 
  • Handling and moving objects- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials
  • Must be able to stand, squat, bend, crawl, reach 
  • Use of a jib crane, grinders, forklift, and other tools/equipment needed for the job at hand

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Manufacturing environment: May be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.

ITAR Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and abide by all ITAR-specific job standards and training.  Protect and properly safeguard ITAR-sensitive information and work product; ensure dissemination or disclosure of and access to “protected data” occurs only with those trained and approved for exposure to ITAR content.
  • IMMEDIATELY notify Supervisor/Manager, Human Resources, Legal (email:  compliance@samuel.com) or the Samuel Ethics Alert Hotline of known or suspected unauthorized disclosure, release of or access to protected ITAR content.
