Overview
The Security Operations Command Center (SOC) Operator is responsible for supporting centralized security operations through real-time monitoring, dispatch, scheduling coordination, incident management, and communication with security personnel, clients, and internal operations leadership.

This position serves as a critical point of coordination between field security personnel and management, ensuring incidents, service requests, staffing needs, and operational issues are communicated and documented accurately and in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in security dispatching, security operations, scheduling, incident reporting, and CCTV/video surveillance and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where multiple priorities must be managed simultaneously. The SOC Operator must demonstrate strong judgment, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies or high-pressure situations.

Duties

Security Operations & Dispatch

1. Monitor and coordinate daily security operations from the command center.

2. Receive, prioritize, document, and respond to security-related calls, radio traffic, alerts, and service requests.

3. Dispatch security personnel to incidents, calls for service, emergencies, and other operational needs.

4. Maintain continuous communication with officers, supervisors, clients, and Operations leadership.

5. Monitor officer activity and status to ensure appropriate coverage and response.

6. Escalate incidents and operational issues to the appropriate supervisor or leadership team.

7. Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, EMS, or other emergency services when required by established procedures.

8. Maintain accurate logs of dispatch activity, officer status, incidents, and significant events.

Scheduling & Workforce Coordination

1. Assist with daily and ongoing scheduling of security personnel.

2. Monitor staffing levels, call-offs, late arrivals, open posts, and coverage gaps.

3. Communicate staffing shortages and operational concerns to appropriate Operations leadership.

4. Assist with finding coverage for open shifts in accordance with company procedures.

5. Maintain accurate records of schedule changes and staffing activity.

6. Support Operations Managers and Supervisors with real-time staffing information.

CCTV & Security Systems Monitoring

1. Monitor CCTV and video surveillance systems for suspicious activity, security incidents, safety concerns, and operational issues.

2. Review live and recorded video when investigating incidents.

3. Identify and report unusual or suspicious activity in accordance with established procedures.

4. Monitor security alarms and other command-center systems as assigned.

5. Maintain awareness of multiple facilities, locations, and security activities simultaneously.

6. Document and escalate surveillance findings appropriately.

Incident Management & Reporting

1. Create accurate and timely incident reports based on information received through dispatch, CCTV, field personnel, and other sources.

2. Document the who, what, when, where, and actions taken for security-related incidents.

3. Review information for accuracy and completeness before submitting reports.

4. Maintain detailed records of significant incidents and operational events.

5. Escalate critical incidents immediately according to established protocols.

6. Assist management with gathering information and documentation for incident investigations.

Communication & Customer Service

1. Serve as a professional communication point for security officers, supervisors, clients, employees, and other stakeholders.

2. Communicate clearly and calmly during routine and emergency situations.

3. Provide timely updates regarding incidents, staffing issues, and security events.

4. Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive security information.

5. Demonstrate professionalism when communicating with clients and senior leadership.

Experience

  • 3+ years of professional experience in security operations, security dispatch, command center, GSOC, security scheduling, or a related environment.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience dispatching security personnel or coordinating field operations.
  • Experience creating and maintaining detailed incident reports.
  • 3+ years of experience monitoring CCTV/video surveillance systems.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during high-pressure situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, email, and data-entry systems.
  • Ability to learn and utilize security technology, dispatch systems, CCTV platforms, scheduling software, and incident-management systems.
