Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Perform hands on quality control inspections or testing on assigned projects per project specifications and/or Company requirements, either in-house or in the field, as required.
  • Work with scheduled outside QA/QC or testing vendors as necessary.
  • Work with welders to correct any welding deficiencies and to enhance the skills of individual welders. 
  • Perform ongoing review of projects and project documents with QM or project managers, as directed by the QM, to ensure that required inspections, instructions, and/or documentation is performed.
  • Monitor floor production to ensure that employees are following correct quality procedures and are meeting necessary standards.
  • Communicate evolving project status to QM and project managers for assigned projects.  Keeps the QM & project managers, as well as shop supervisors, informed of issues that would require their immediate attention.
  • Identify nonconformances to drawing, code, and /or project specifications.  Works with the shop supervisor, PM, and QM to identity project problems and propose possible solutions.
  • Having basic knowledge of machinery and understand shop capabilities in all buildings especially in relation to potential quality, tolerance issues and/or welding.
  • Utilize Quality Assurance software during inspections as assigned by QM.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Generate inspection report forms for testing performed, as required. 
  • Provide QCM with information for maintaining welder continuity and updates. Ensures that individual welder certifications are up to date before welding on projects.
  • Monitor that individual welders are working within certification limitations.
  • Look for ways to increase overall shop efficiency, in terms of procedures and welding, and relays findings to the QCM. 
  • Maintains the confidentiality of CAID Industries and customer’s projects and facilities as required.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Current AWS CAWI, CWI or ASNT Level II
  • Able to read and understand WPS, PQR and WPQ documents
  • Familiarity with blueprints, fabrication and welding processes, metal alloys, welding procedures, and inspection processes
  • Familiarity with welding/fabrication equipment
  • Familiar with Word/Excel/PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some experience with non-destructive testing methods including MT, PT and LT
  • Familiarity with AWS/ANSI, ASME and API codes
  • 2-3 years of experience in inspection and quality control
  • Ability to weld a certifiable 2/3G open root GMAW/FCAW coupon 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Manufacturing environment: May be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.  Required to utilize correct PPE.

  • Adhere to and abide by all ITAR-specific job standards and training.  Protect and properly safeguard ITAR-sensitive information and work product; ensure dissemination or disclosure of and access to “protected data” occurs only with those trained and approved for exposure to ITAR content.
  • IMMEDIATELY notify Supervisor/Manager, Human Resources, Legal (email:  compliance@samuel.com) or the Samuel Ethics Alert Hotline of known or suspected unauthorized disclosure, release of or access to protected ITAR content.
