Job Overview: A Startup & Commissioning Electrician supports the testing, troubleshooting, startup, commissioning, and turnover of electrical, instrumentation, control, and process systems at a water treatment facility. This position works closely with commissioning engineers, operations personnel, equipment vendors, and construction teams to verify systems are installed correctly, function as designed, and are ready for safe and reliable operation.

Positions are available in Gilbert, AZ.

Compensation: $38 per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, (5/10 schedule).

Per Diem: No per diem.

Job Functions:

• Execute pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and functional testing activities for electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Verify installations comply with project drawings, specifications, manufacturer recommendations, and quality requirements.
• Test and troubleshoot MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, motors, control panels, and electrical distribution equipment.
• Perform loop checks, signal verification, calibration support, I/O testing, and equipment checkout activities.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, control drawings, and equipment documentation.
• Identify commissioning deficiencies, document findings, and support corrective actions.
• Complete commissioning checklists, test records, punch lists, and turnover documentation.
• Coordinate startup and commissioning activities with operations, vendors, engineers, and construction teams.
• Support system energization activities while following established commissioning procedures.
• Adhere to all site safety requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, NFPA 70E requirements, and safe work practices.

Qualifications: 

• Minimum 3 years of experience in commissioning, startup, industrial electrical, instrumentation, controls, or a related field.
• Experience troubleshooting and testing electrical power, control, and instrumentation systems.
• Working knowledge of MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and motor controls.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, P&IDs, and control documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with commissioning documentation, turnover packages, and startup procedures preferred.
• Water treatment or wastewater treatment experience preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with vendors, engineers, and operations personnel.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including rugged terrain and active construction environments.
• Capable of lifting, standing, climbing, and walking for extended periods.
