Syrup Room Supervisor - Night Shift

YOUR ROLE IN THE FAMILY:

  • Lead Mixing and Rail Receiving/Offloading operations to safely and efficiently meet production schedules and material requirements
  • Maintain a strong floor presence to identify and resolve issues in real time while ensuring First-Time Quality product is delivered to all filling lines with a goal of zero “Waiting on Product” downtime
  • Drive a strong safety culture by ensuring employees follow safety procedures, GMPs, quality standards, and housekeeping expectations
  • Identify and address unsafe conditions and behaviors while reinforcing safe work practices
  • Own the safe and timely receiving and offloading of raw materials to ensure material availability align with production needs
  • Ensure rail operations are properly planned and executed while maintaining safety, efficiency, and material availability
  • Build and maintain a capable, engaged, and accountable team
  • Establish clear expectations, provide coaching and performance feedback, develop employee skills, and ensure staffing levels support production requirements
  • Maintain competency matrices, qualification plans, cross-training programs, and development pathways to ensure operational flexibility and business continuity
  • Partner closely with Maintenance to troubleshoot equipment issues, identify recurring problems, and coordinate repairs
  • Proactively plan equipment downtime and preventive maintenance activities to allow Maintenance to complete necessary work with minimal to no impact to filling line production
  • Consistently delivers First-Time Quality product to all filling lines while achieving the goal of zero “Waiting on Product” downtime     
  • Maintains a strong safety culture with consistent compliance to safety procedures, GMPs, quality standards, and housekeeping expectations     
  • Effectively plans and executes shift operations to meet production schedules, material requirements, and departmental priorities      
  • Maintains strong team performance through clear expectations, accountability, coaching, employee development, and effective communication      
  • Proactively coordinates with Maintenance to troubleshoot equipment issues and schedule repairs and PMs with minimal impact to production       
  • Ensures raw materials are received, offloaded, and made available safely and efficiently to support uninterrupted production      
  • Identifies and implements opportunities to improve operational efficiency, equipment reliability, product quality, and overall team performance       
  • Effectively communicates operational priorities, production status, issues, and shift handoffs to ensure alignment across departments and shifts      
  • Maintains an accurate competency matrix and development path for every operator, ensuring required training is completed, current, and proactively addressed before it becomes a safety, performance, or compliance exposure

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR TO JOIN OUR FAMILY?

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent  
  • Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • Three or more years of experience in manufacturing, production, processing, or material-handling environment       
  • Previous leadership, lead operator, or supervisory experience with responsibility for directing employees and daily operations       
  • Experience working with equipment troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, and production downtime planning     
  • Experience working in an environment where safety, quality, productivity, and adherence to procedures are critical to business performance
  • Experience in beverage, food, chemical, or other high-volume process manufacturing      
  • Experience with liquid blending, batching, mixing, filtration, ingredient handling, or similar process operations       
  • Experience with rail receiving, railcar unloading, bulk material handling, or logistics operations        
  • Experience with preventive maintenance planning and coordination with Maintenance teams       
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, or other continuous improvement methods     
  • Formal supervisory, leadership, or manufacturing-related training        
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and hold teams accountable for operational performance         
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, process control, material handling, and production flow
  • Strong understanding of GMP requirements, food safety principles, quality systems, and workplace safety standards       
  • Strong planning, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced production environment         
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees at all organizational levels       
  • Ability to monitor production performance, identify issues, and take timely corrective action      
  • Ability to use production systems, computerized equipment interfaces, and standard business software      
  • Ability to work a 12-hour schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification       
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent        
  • Leadership or supervisory development certification        
  • Forklift or industrial equipment certifications as applicable

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Works in a manufacturing environment
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to: talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, grasp, pick, lift, stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions. The employee must frequently lift and /or move 50 pounds. The employee is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as operate production machines where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach
  • This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
  • Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices
