The Public Works Department strives to improve the quality of life in Phoenix through efficient delivery of outstanding solid waste, fleet, facilities, and energy management services.
The Facilities Operations Division (FOD) within Public Works provides citywide maintenance services to more than 860 city-owned and leased facilities encompassing 10.6 million square feet, including the downtown campus, police and fire stations, libraries, service centers, senior centers, parks and pools, recreation centers, public transit facilities, arts and cultural facilities, and other city buildings and infrastructure.
The Electrician position performs skilled level electrician work in the maintenance, construction, installation, alteration/modification, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade for primarily commercial and industrial applications. Assignments are received by sketches, blueprints, verbally, and through work orders.
In addition to the above, the Electrician position requires the use of earth-moving equipment, aerial equipment up to 120’, and pneumatic equipment to facilitate electrical repairs. There will be occasions when this position requires project leadership of other electrical team members, including apprentices, to complete job tasks. Also required with this position is the use of desktop and mobile devices for data entry, communication, and time entry. This position may require irregular shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, after-hours, and on-call or “standby” for emergency support and requests. Standby is currently compensated at $2.50 per hour, with call-out requests and responses being paid at time and a half normal hourly wage.
$30.03 (minimum) - $35.61 (maximum) hourly / $62,462.00 - $74,069.00 annually. Candidates may be hired up to $74,068.80 depending upon qualifications.
