Job Title: Vehicle Upfitter/Installer

Reports To: Shop Supervisor/Manager
Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Vehicle Upfitter/Installer to join our team. In this role, you
will be responsible for installing and modifying specialized equipment in vehicles, such as emergency
response vehicles, work trucks, utility vehicles, and fleet units. The ideal candidate will have experience
with mechanical, electrical, and fabrication work and be comfortable using various hand and power
tools.

  1. Key Responsibilities:
  2. Install, wire, and troubleshoot aftermarket equipment such as lighting, sirens, radios, GPS units, and
    specialized vehicle accessories.
  3. Modify and customize vehicle interiors and exteriors to meet client specifications.
  4. Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  5. Safely use hand and power tools to fabricate and mount components.
  6. Ensure proper electrical connections, grounding, and integration of systems.
  7. Test installed equipment to verify functionality and compliance with safety standards.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to company safety policies.
  9. Diagnose and repair issues with upfitted equipment and systems.
  10. Work closely with team members, supervisors, and clients to meet project requirements.
  11. Document installation processes and report completed work to supervisors.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification preferred).
  • Experience in automotive installation, electrical work, or related field.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive systems and components.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with emergency vehicle upfitting (police, fire, EMS) is a plus.
  • 12V electrical system experience, including soldering and crimping.
  • ASE or MECP certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for
extended periods.
Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to tools, machinery, and various vehicle
types.
